Day One is done!

We are just heading off to bed, but wanted to give you a quick update on a great first day!  We started early this morning and a Curtis, Gercon and I went into town to get some breakfast supplies and a tool from the hardware store.  After a bite to eat we headed to La Lidia where we caught our first glimpse of this place we’ve been talking about for so long.  The day was a good one and filled with great memories!  We began work on the kitchen/community center facility.  Almost all the post were put into the ground, a jig to make roof trusses was created and some walls in the kitchen area were built.  Our ladies spent most of the day moving dirt, by hand from the high points, to the low areas so that tomorrow we can start to pour a concrete floor.  We worked alongside of our partners here, Curtis, Linda, Gercon, Rosio, Marco and Cecilia and really enjoyed our time with them.  They gave us a very special lunch which included…wait for it…cow intestine soup!  We got a lot done today and while it poured rain, we realized that the rain was from God because if it had been hot, we would not have got nearly the amount done that we did, instead, the temperature stayed relatively cool, the ground was workable and our group remained enthusiastic.

We’ve just finished our debrief and are ready for bed, but want to thank you for you great support!  Thanks for interacting with the facebook page-we can update that live from La Lidia and thank you for praying for us.  If you have a moment, please continue to pray for us in the following ways:

1.  Pray for continued enthusiasm for the project and for working together.

2.  Pray for continued safety.  We have had relatively little to now accidents (other than me dropping a cement wall on my toes, which are all fine)

3.  Pray that we would be a blessing to this community, to each other and to our partners.  We want to show the love and joy of Jesus to our friends down here.

Thanks again for your incredible support.  We love you all and can’t wait to share stories from Day 1!

Much Love and Blessings,

Aaron
